Ben Abbes Jihad
Specializations:
Founder of Jeet Academy KL
Close Combat and Self-Defense Instructor,
Krav Maga and Jeet Kune Do Instructor
-
Ben is a 41-year-old Belgian. He was formed as a lawyer in Brussels and worked as a Business developer for many years in many countries. Today, he is an entrepreneur and founder of the academy.
On a summer night in 2007, Ben was a victim of a violent attack in the streets of Brussels, his hometown, finding himself powerless and helpless, despite a good level of fitness. Determined to prevent such a scenario from happening again, he started training and researching more about self-defense, focusing on realistic situations, and easy-to-learn efficient techniques. Not all martial arts are adapted to the street. Luckily, Ben found an excellent mentor; today one of the world’s most renowned in his field and started studying Jeet Kune Do and Kali with him. Ben also deepened his knowledge by studying and practicing Krav Maga, a very effective military-based method, and soon, passed all his grades. After years of practice and hard training, Ben received his instructor degrees in the different disciplines he studied. His journey has led him worldwide, from Belgium to China, through Cyprus and New York. Beyond the martial aspects, his research has led him to focus on the psychological factors of violence, leading him to a very holistic approach to Self-defense, not only martial. Rich in his multi-level experiences, today, he shares his expertise through his workshops and seminars conducted here in Malaysia and aboard, by using techniques and principles to prevent, de-escalate but also react to violence when necessary. In the street, there is only one rule: No rules!
An eternal student, Ben regularly practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and keeps improving his skills all around the world with Tricom, FMA, Mastro Defense System, and many more, living his own Jeet Kune Do!
He proudly became the reference in Self Defense designed for civilians in the country and envisions to “Make Self Defense Great Again”, far away from the cliches and charlatans one may encounter while searching for real Self Defence.
Thanks to the simplicity and effectiveness of his system, his expertise is now widely recognized across the region, leading him to collaborate with law enforcement, security professionals, stunt teams, and more
"I teach people to be more comfortable in the uncomfortable. Learn controlled violence. And then choose Peace. May the peace be with you" Ben
Vince Choo
Specializations:
Founder of VCBjj
3nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
-
Vince has a background of 45 years of martial training and 25 years of teaching experience. He is a renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor, with a focus on defensive techniques suitable for beginners and older adult students.
Vince has been training in martial arts since he was 10 — 45 years old across Chinese, Japanese, and Western systems. He started coaching at 17 and never stopped. After transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he opened one of the first BJJ academies in Malaysia and has been running his own gym ever since.
Today he runs VCBJJ, a small private gym in Bangsar built specifically for working adults. Classes are capped at 10. There are no contracts, no hierarchy, no performance culture. Students range from complete beginners to experienced grapplers — what they share is that they're serious about learning and not interested in ego.
His approach draws on the Constraints-Led Approach — structured problem-solving on the mat rather than rote drilling. Students are taught to think, not just repeat. The emphasis is on building a game that holds up over decades, not just for the next competition.
Vince holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt under Prof. Rodney King, whose lineage runs through Master Rigan Machado (8th Degree). He is listed on Beltchecker.com and is a member of BJJ Globetrotters.
Classes are Gi and No-Gi, typically 6–10 people, relaxed in atmosphere and precise in instruction. Students regularly train together outside the gym — travel, meetups, the occasional overseas camp.
