The people behind JEET Academy KL.

Every coach here has spent years testing what they teach under real pressure - in competition, on the mats, and in the field. That is who you train with.

Ben Abbes Jihad

Founder & Head Instructor
  • Krav Maga & Close Combat Instructor
  • Jeet Kune Do Instructor
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt
  • Self-Defence & Security Training Specialist
  • Founder, JEET Academy KL

Ben is the founder and Head Instructor of JEET Academy KL, specialising in practical self-defence, close combat and violence prevention for civilians, corporate teams and security professionals.

His journey into self-defence began after experiencing a violent street assault in Brussels, his hometown, in 2006 - an event that fundamentally changed the way he looked at martial arts and personal safety. Rather than focusing on style, tradition or sport alone, Ben began studying what actually works when situations become unpredictable, physical and real.

Over the years, he has trained extensively in Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, Kali and other combative systems, while continuing to broaden his perspective through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and modern self-defence methodologies. His training has taken him across Europe, Asia and the United States, learning from internationally recognised instructors and pressure-testing concepts across different disciplines.

Today, Ben’s approach goes far beyond fighting techniques. His teaching addresses awareness, prevention, de-escalation, decision-making under pressure and, when necessary, the controlled use of physical force. This methodology has led him to work with everyday civilians, multinational companies, law-enforcement and security personnel, as well as actors and stunt professionals.

At the heart of his philosophy is a simple principle: self-defence should make people more capable and confident, not more fearful.

“Train to become a protector. Then, always choose peace first. It is better to be a samurai in a garden than a gardener on a battlefield.”

Vince Choo

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt - 3rd Degree
  • Kissaki-Kai Karate Black Belt - 5th Degree
  • Owner & Head Coach, VCBJJ

Vince Choo is the most experienced martial artist on the JEET Academy KL coaching team, with over 45 years of training across multiple disciplines and more than two decades dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

He began training BJJ in 2002 and has been coaching the art since 2015. Over the years, his approach has been shaped by extensive experience in both grappling and traditional martial arts, including a 5th-Degree Black Belt in Kissaki-Kai Karate.

Vince’s teaching places a strong emphasis on positional defence, fundamentals and practical problem-solving. Rather than relying on strength or athleticism alone, he focuses on helping students understand structure, timing, control and efficient movement so they can build Jiu-Jitsu that remains effective and sustainable over the long term.

As the founder and Head Coach of VCBJJ in Bangsar (vcbjj.com), Vince has built a strong reputation for structured, technical and thoughtful instruction. He has trained and taught internationally throughout his martial arts career, bringing a broad perspective to the way he approaches learning, coaching and progression.

At JEET Academy KL, Vince leads Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction with the same focus on technical depth, safety and long-term development. His classes are designed to help students build confidence on the ground, improve their ability to defend difficult positions and develop a deeper understanding of how effective grappling works under pressure.

“FLOW is the way.”

Black-and-white portrait of Farrah Yong, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids instructor at JEET Academy KL, in a gi giving a peace sign

Farrah Yong

BJJ Kids Instructor
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt
  • Kettlebell Instructor
  • Multi-Time Kettlebell Competition Winner in Asia
  • Former Corporate Professional, Now Full-Time Coach

Farrah is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt under Professor Vince Choo and a full-time coach with more than 11 years of experience on the mats. Introduced to BJJ by a friend in 2015, what began as a new challenge quickly became a central part of her life.

For Farrah, progress in Jiu-Jitsu has never been about chasing titles or collecting achievements. She believes in the small victories that come with consistent training - learning something new, overcoming a difficult position and becoming a little better than the person who stepped onto the mats the day before.

She has been coaching for more than five years, with a particular passion for teaching children. Her approach is hands-on and game-based: instead of simply asking kids to copy techniques, she encourages them to experiment, make decisions and discover solutions for themselves. The goal is to develop genuine problem-solving skills alongside their Jiu-Jitsu.

Beyond technique, Farrah wants her students to learn how to face difficult challenges, respect others and bounce back from failure with a smile. For her, martial arts should give children the confidence and resilience to leave the mats feeling capable of handling challenges in everyday life.

Her training extends beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Farrah is also a kettlebell instructor, trains strength regularly and has won kettlebell competitions in Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Hong Kong. This strength and conditioning background complements her understanding of movement, athletic development and physical preparation.

Outside training, Farrah has a strong passion for photography. But JEET Academy is rarely far away - after years of coaching and training here, the academy has become as much a home as it is a workplace.
